The middle years at Pascoe Vale Girls College play a crucial role in preparing students for their transition from primary to senior school. With a focus on building academic, social and emotional skills, students are provided with a supportive environment that helps them discover their strengths and interests. Through a range of learning experiences, Pascoe Vale Girls College equips students with the tools they need to find their path and succeed in their future endeavours.

Beginning with a comprehensive transition program, students are welcomed into the college through a supportive and caring approach. A broad range of subjects and activities enable Year 7 students to explore diverse interests while developing essential skills for learning. The reading and numeracy programs are a key feature of the curriculum, recognising that strong literacy and numeracy skills underpin success across all learning areas.

Termly celebration assemblies recognise students for their effort, achievement and contribution to the school community. Students are also encouraged to take on leadership roles, from classroom responsibilities to supporting school events, helping them to develop confidence, teamwork, and organisational skills while making a meaningful impact at the college.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in the Year 7 camp, which provides a valuable setting for building friendships, strengthening peer connections, and further supporting a positive transition into life at Pascoe Vale Girls College.

Pascoe Vale Girls College offers a diverse and engaging Year 8 program designed to meet the varied abilities, interests, and learning needs of all students. Through a student-centred and inclusive approach, each student is supported to reach their full potential.

A broad range of subjects across the Arts, Technologies, and Languages enables students to expand their knowledge, explore new interests, and develop valuable skills. These learning experiences foster creativity, critical thinking, and cultural understanding, preparing students for success across all areas of learning and beyond.

Year 8 students participate in Explore electives, a weekly program that enables students to work with their peers while exploring areas of the curriculum not covered in regular classes such as dance, singing, woodwork and sewing. Students complete a different elective each semester, providing opportunities to broaden their interests, develop new skills, and engage in innovative learning experiences.

Pascoe Vale Girls College provides a comprehensive and learner-focused Year 9 program designed to support students’ individual strengths, interests, and learning pathways. Through a range of semester-based electives, students are encouraged to explore areas of interest and develop skills across a variety of subjects beyond the core curriculum, fostering engagement, independence, and informed subject choices for future study.

JUMP electives (Join In, Understand, Member of Community, Participate) provide wonderful opportunities for students to focus on developing general capabilities while strengthening their’ sense of connection to the school and wider community through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.

The City Experience Program is designed to extend students’ learning beyond the classroom and into the wider community. Through exploration, inquiry, and collaboration, students are encouraged to engage with the city as a dynamic, real-world classroom, gaining insight into the opportunities, challenges, and complexities of urban life.
