Junior School

The College recognises that a comprehensive range of subjects is essential in order to cater for a variety of students’ abilities, interests and talents. The program at Year 7 and 8 is designed so that students experience a range of different subjects, some on a semester basis. In Year 7 students study a semester of Japanese and a semester of Italian. In Year 8 students elect which LOTE to study.

A Year 7 camp supports the transition of students into the College. The camp is held in Term 1 each year with students, form teachers and the Junior School Team participating in a 3 day camp.

At Year 7 and Year 8, EAL (English as an Additional Language) classes ensure that those students with a non-English speaking background are offered the appropriate support to develop their English language skills. The college Literacy program provides selected students with an intensive program within a team teaching environment.

All students in the Junior School participate in the Numeracy program which supports all students in skill development and provides extension opportunities for advanced learners.

The College provides a broad range of co-curricular activities available to all students. There are also specific programs aimed at our Junior School students which focus on resilience, empathy, self-awareness, assertiveness and community development.
