International Women’s Day

At Pascoe Vale Girls College, we were very happy and privileged to host International Women’s Day this year on Friday the 7th of March. It is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while also serving as a call to action for accelerating gender parity and women’s rights. 

In order to receive more insight on the success and hardships faced by women, both Middle and Senior School Students had the pleasure of listening to the life stories of two fascinating and successful women (past-PVGC students) which took place during 2nd period for Middle School and 4th period for Senior School. They talked us through their experiences, from the hardships and adversities they faced, to the victories they celebrated. 

During this time, we also had the absolute pleasure of welcoming and introducing all the 2025 senior school leaders. We had various students come up to shake hands with the speaker and receive their certificate with beaming smiles on their faces.

In order to celebrate this event, a lunchtime carnival was held where leaders were able to create their own stalls selling their own items. These stalls included events such as ‘Guess how many lollies in the lolly Jar?’, ‘Guess what song it is?’, ‘Beanbag toss’, ‘Face painting’, ‘Cup Stacking’ and much more that many students enjoyed. Many students as well as teachers enjoyed themselves at the Carnival which was incredible to see. 

A big thank you to Ms Ferguson for all the planning and effort it took into making all this possible, from the speakers to the stalls. Also a big thank you to the Leaders who also put in a lot of effort into making different but really enjoyable stalls for the students and teachers to have fun.

Student Leadership Day

On the 10th of February, Pascoe Vale Girls College was very excited to hold Leadership Day. It was a day for PVGC Leaders to come together to share their ideas and to communicate with each other on yearly events.

During the first 2 periods of the day, leaders were formally introduced to each other and were able to receive their gifts which were personally made by Ms Ferguson. Students started by playing people bingo which included us walking around and conversing with other leaders. This helped us to make new friends and speak to new people.

After that, we then began to brainstorm and plan important events such as International Women’s Day and other yearly events. Towards the end of day, the leaders played team building activities which were conducted by our 3 School Captains (Alina, Meharpreet and Elise). This day was very good for us to build leadership skills and get to know each other. We look forward to hosting more events this year.
